FAQs - Filing & the File Cabinet
File cabinet quotas, file sharing, and storage
- What is the filing cabinet?
The filing cabinet is just like a normal filing cabinet where you keep files. Except in 2Large2Email you can sort files by name, size, date and file type. The wonders of modern technology! When you send a file it automatically lodges in the filing cabinet unless you need it again. You can always delete files if you're running out of room in your account.
- Is there a size limit on the files that I can upload?
Check out your account details under the "Preferences" section that outlines your plan's parameters. If you need to send larger files you can always upgrade your account. Remember though, the larger the file, the longer it will take to upload.
- Can I have different versions of the same file in the filing cabinet?
Absolutely. You can upload as many different versions of the same file as you want, providing they fit within your account parameters. If the files are uploaded with the same name you'll be able to tell which one you uploaded last by sorting the files by date. Or, if you want to overwrite the older versions hit "Replace with new version" which is an option in the filing cabinet and appears next to the file image.
- Why does it take so long to upload a file?
Sometimes users can experience slow upload times for large files. Our servers can handle pretty quick uploads so if you're finding it's taking a long time to upload your file, it could be at your ISP's end. Remember - most ISP's offer much faster download speeds than they do upload speeds, so where it might take a minute to download a 100Mb file it could take 15 minutes to upload the same file. 2Large2Email is designed to maximize your bandwidth capacity to get the file uploaded as quickly as possible. You can continue to use your computer as normal while the file is uploading. A way to avoid lengthy wait periods is to upload the file in the background and store it in the filing cabinet for future use.
- How do I put a file in the filing cabinet once I have sent it?
2Large2Email automatically puts sent files in the filing cabinet in case you need them again. This saves you effort and time, because uploading large files can take a fair while, depending on your internet connection. You can always delete the files if you decide you won't need them again.
- Why would I put a file in the filing cabinet if I don't want to send it yet?
Uploading files takes a lot longer than downloading files. So, if you know you might want to send a file in the future you can save time now by adding that file to your filing cabinet beforehand. Go ahead and start the upload - you can continue to use your computer as normal. Make sure you don't exceed your ISP's upload limit though!!
- How do I delete a file?
Sometimes you might decide you need some more space in your filing cabinet, or you might not need a file anymore. It's easy to delete files to make room for more. All you have to do is click "delete" which is next to the file.
- How do I rename a file?
- How much space does my account have?
You can check the amount of available space by looking at the statistics in the "Preferences" section of 2Large2Email. Depending on what plan you're on, you can upgrade and download at anytime to choose the plan that best suits your storage requirements.
- I've run out of space. What can I do?
The administrator and account owner can upgrade the account at any time to a plan that best suits your needs and requirements. There are upgrade tabs in every section of the product for convenience.
